Our 5th Blogiversary!

We are five years old this week! Well actually The blog is five years old this week! Our little business is more along eight years old now. Time flies by when you are baking cakes! To be honest, 2013 was not a great year for business. Our sales were almost half of 2012 and 2011. It was a challenge some weeks to bring you a cake and blog worth reading, but I hope we did. We really do wish more people that read the blog would leave comments. There is a small faithful handful of you that are there every week with sweet and encouraging words. To you guys, we want to extend our wholehearted thank you! It truly does put "fuel" in our little blogging engine. See what I did there? I know signing up for a Google account takes a few minutes, but please do it. Little blogs like us really like to know you are there and that we aren't talking to the wind. I am not the type of a girl seeking praise for cakes. I really want feedback, opinions and requests for content. We are working on some new videos for the upcoming year. If there are things you want us to show, teach, or complain about, just let me know.

Lastly, I wanted to thank Chad for keeping this blog going. It is only because of him that this part of our story continues. That man will not let me skip a week because we have to "be consistent". There are many times that I try to bring him to the dark (lazy) side, but the man is committed and it's one of my favorite things about him!

  1. Congrats on the 5 years! I know how much time it takes to keep a blog going - big accomplishment. I love reading your blog and I have learned so much from you - favorite it the buttercream technique. I would LOVE to see a tour of your beautiful kitchen on the blog. Each time a see a bit of it, I am totally fascinated. Again, thank you for taking the time to help and share with others!

    1. You will be happy to know that the video has been shot! We have a little short version and a longer, more in depth version. It's in Chad's hands now, so I'm going to have to bribe him. I can't edit and all of that, it's his department. We will post it soon!

    2. Jenniffer, I am so excited - I can't wait to see the LONG version! After I posted the request, I thought "maybe" that you had done the kitchen tour before and I missed it. This year I hope to remodel my downstairs kitchen and maybe, one day, have some cake classes. Don't keep us waiting too long, Chad :)

You are supremely talented and I was so blessed and lucky to have had you do our wedding cake. Hope to work with you again soon, but till then I will definitely be tuning in each week.

  4. Happy Blogiversary! I also enjoy reading about (and seeing) your beautiful work. It's hard to stand out among such talented cake makers, but your work really does shine. I also agree about wanting to see a kitchen tour. Looking forward to the video (ahem- get to work Chad!)

  6. I am so bad about leaving blog comments I am gong to try harder because I know it's nice to get feedback on your hard work! I love your blog and just recently found it because of you being a beta tester for us (thank you!) I loved reading about you and your husband meeting all of the famous cake people! I love that your husband is so involved in the cake world! Also... Your cakes are awesome! :)

  7. I faithfully read your posts and I use your basic icing a cake video almost every time I make a cake (I only do a few a year). I wish you better luck in 2014.
