Although this cake is smaller than some, it is still a lovely little wedding cake. It was delivered to Trevitt Hall in Dalton, GA. This bride wasn't afraid to being a splash of color to her wedding day celebration!
This time I used my Fondx to make my bow. I have had problems in the past fashioning sturdy bows out of Fondx, but this time I used CMC Fondant Stabilizer to add to the Fondx and it made a big difference! It made the Fondx hold its shape nicely, where tylose just doesn't cut it!
One of the things I like about ordering Elite by Fondx fondant is that it always comes with a little "surprise" inside. Sometimes it's a dragee sampler, sometimes it's a little foam mold. It reminds me of getting the prize inside of Cracker Jacks when I was a kid! I used one of those foam molds to make the brooch on the bow.

adorable cake. Love the colours, beautiful bow on a simple and elegant cake
ReplyDeleteThe bow turned out great, thank you for the link of that site, I never hear of it. I am loving the colors on the cake. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteAdorable cake! How do you like the Fondx elite? I was thinking about ordering some - does it really live up to its no tearing, no cracking tag line? I'm getting a little tired of Satin Ice, for those very reasons.
ReplyDelete@Kristen - I LOVE FondX Elite! I first used it when I did a big 3D dog cake. I was short on one side but it stretched perfectly and did not tear or get elephant skin! I still have some Satin Ice, but I am moving all my fondant over to FondX.
ReplyDelete@ccchris & Kathia - Thanks!
Jenniffer - thanks for the reinforcement; ordering some today! Have you found a source to order it in bulk? Global Sugar Art only sells it in 2lb buckets. Have you had good luck with the regular Fondx as well?
ReplyDeleteVery smooth and sleek
ReplyDelete@Kristen - I have not found a bigger pkg than 2lbs for the Elite, but I get mine either from Global Sugar Art or Cal Java online ( http://caljavaonline.com/rolledfondants1.htm ). And yes I like regular Fondx as well, it is still better than Satin ice!
ReplyDeleteJenniffer, thanks so much. Really glad to hear that the Fondx is better than Satin Ice - it's really been driving me crazy lately!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!! I really love the pop of color from bow and the nice touch of the brooch!!
ReplyDeleteThe brouche and the green cloured bow make this cake very elegant. Love the brouche.
