Easter Cupcakes

hippity hoppity... Easter is on the way! It's one of my favorite Holidays because of the animals and colors. Today I made a mere dozen cupcakes and had a little extra time so I went a little over the top. I just love bunnies! I found a picture that inspired me and they looked so easy, but hours later I found that Easter Chicks aren't just hatched! I wish some of what I made was not eaten but just looked at! I hope you enjoy these cuties as much as I did making them!

Hi! It's 5:30 and I'm done with my cakes! WOW! Working until midnight last night sure did help. I've been making two wedding cakes that match each other. One for a big reception and one for a small. They are based of the wedding invitation for Melanie and Elichai. They are a very sophisticated couple and I think these cakes will make them happy. One is going to Trevitt Hall in Dalton GA. The other cake is going to a family home. I also am making snacks to take to the ladies getting pretty at the Tease Salon in Dalton, GA. It took a look longer than I expected to do these cakes. The fondant was sprayed with a white pearl sparkly dust (hard to see in the picture) and all of the decorations are made from fondant. I used the writing tips (that go on bags) for the smallest dots. I'm proud of them and hope you like them too!

What a Saturday! I had a pick up this morning by some wonderful and sassy women! They ohhhed and awwed over my display cakes and really gave me a good start for the day. I sat down with a bride, groom and the groom's mother for a 2 1/2 hour consultation. They had so many great ideas and it took a little while to design the perfect cake. Luckily the tasting part was easy, one taste and they were hooked (lemon cake/lemon curd filling and cream cheese icing for the brides)(milk chocolate cake with peanut butter icing filling and chocolate house buttercream). The wedding is not until January at the Chattanoogan, but I can't wait to make the cakes. The groom's cake is an upside down, 3 tier square! Yes, upside down!
Chad and I then made some cupcakes to take to a party later. I really like the whiskey cupcakes with whiskey cream cheese icing. The Guinness chocolate cupcakes are very moist, but you can't taste the stout in them at all. The whisky ganache and Baileys Irish Cream buttercream make up for it though. I hope the party goers like them!

Display cakes and cupcakes

What a crazy week! I worked a lot on a 5-tier square wedding cake for a display at the Chattanoogan Hotel, in Chattanooga, TN (duh!). I wanted to create a modern cake with an arts & crafts feel like the hotel. If the cake was real it would have fed 350 people and cost about $1400 and I did it all for free (well for advertising!) I'm trying a new plan this time with this cake. Most fade so very fast that any colors are almost gone in a month. This time I used chocolate to color all of the cake, from ivory, to champagne to dark chocolate.
Well lots of sample cakes are ready for a bridal consultation tomorrow as well as some baby shower cupcakes. There is so much left to do! I found a recipe for a Guinness cupcake with a whisky wash and Baileys butter cream. It would be yummy for a St. Patrick's Day party we are attending Saturday.
Well, gotta go bake for fun now!

This weekend's cake

I had some cute cakes to create this week. I made a dirt bike cake, baby shower cake (pink for a baby girl!), a Wizard of Oz cake and an Elegant and modern wedding cake. The Wizard of Oz cake was finished off with a pair of white chocolate shoes that I painted red and then covered in edible ruby red glitter. I just love edible glitter! The wedding cake was exciting to me because the bride was daring enough to use different heights to make the cake more modern. The bottom tier was very tall, about 6", the middle was only 2" tall and the top tier was a normal 4.5". We delivered it to the Lookout Mountain Golf and Country Club. The venue was very well decorated and the staff was very friendly. I was able to meet a new guy from Sound Force Entertainment while I was there. Other than the fog on the mountain, it was great!
